Michigan tight end Erick All is transferring to Iowa, he announced Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know:
Backstory
This is a second big move for Iowa’s offense. All joins former teammate McNamara, who committed to Iowa two weeks ago as a graduate transfer, and both were team captains for back-to-back Big Ten champions. All caught 38 passes for 437 yards and two touchdowns in 2021 but played in only three games this year after suffering a back injury. – Dochterman

What All brings to the Hawkeyes
If All is healthy, Iowa is getting one of the best tight ends in the Big Ten and a potential early-round draft pick. His health is the big question, though. All had back surgery in October after appearing in three games, and the injury contributed to his decision to enter the transfer portal. Iowa will be hoping he can get back to the form he showed in 2021, when he was the second-leading receiver on a team that won the Big Ten and appeared in the College Football Playoff. – Meek
Where All fits with Iowa
All will work alongside junior Luke Lachey to form one of the nation’s top tight end tandems next year. Lachey caught 25 passes for 362 yards and a team-high three touchdowns and is one of the Big Ten’s ascending tight ends. All does have big shoes to fill in Sam LaPorta, who has more catches and yards than any tight end in Iowa history. LaPorta, a Mackey Award finalist, caught 53 passes for 601 yards and a touchdown in just over 10 games this year. He’s likely a top-100 draft pick. – Dochterman
